9. Paul Hogan

Back in 1986, the world was introduced to what has to be the funniest and most stereotypical depiction of an Australian man in Paul Hogan's Crocodile Dundee. The role of the croc hunter wasn't Paul Hogan's first, having developed a series on Australian television in the 70s called The Paul Hogan Show, but it is the one he's best known for.

That's especially true outside of his native Australia, where he's starred in a number of television series and commercials over the years. Despite a career spanning almost 50 years, Hogan will forever be associated with Crocodile Dundee.

It didn't help that he reprised the role in 1988 and then again in 2001's Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. He continued to act for a while but hasn't been seen in anything since 2009, having mostly retired. Hogan does have a number of writing credits to his name, which includes the first two Crocodile Dundee films, the first of which earned him several nominations for Best Screenplay.

Hogan has pretty much remained a fixture of commercials, having been featured in the Subaru Outback's ads in the 1990s and 2000s. When he appears, he almost always reprises his role as Crocodile Dundee, as he did in the image used for this article.
