10 Best One-Off Characters In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

2. Quentin Beck/Mysterio

Thor Ragnarok Hela Cate Blanchett

Mysterio is the perfect Marvel character to adapt to the screen. His powers of creating illusions have incredible cinematic potential, and Spider-Man: Far From Home does a great job with the character. Jake Gyllenhaal is the perfect actor for the role, his science-y theater nerd persona makes for a funny yet horrifying antagonist, and the visual effects for the illusions are beautiful.

Mysterio's role in the first half of the film, when he acts as Peter's new superhero mentor, perfectly fills in the role of "the new Iron Man." Though his plan is eventually thwarted by Peter and the idea of "the new Iron Man" is quashed, this is a great development not just within the movie, but in regards to the MCU. Now that Iron Man is gone, we shouldn't look for his replacement, but expect different characters to step up within these films.

With his apparent death, Mysterio is more than likely a one-and-done bad guy. However, a combination of a good writing, a stellar performance, and one of the most visually stunning power sets put to screen in the MCU make him one of the franchise's best one-and-done bad guys.
