10 Best Opening Scenes In Superhero Movies

The X-Men series is an odd beast at this point, but nothing can change the amazing opening from X2.

The movie opens with Nightcrawler sneaking into the White House, before teleporting through walls to take guards out with his incredible agility and his pronged tail. Meanwhile White House staff attempt to escort the President to safety. Nightcrawler makes his way to the Oval Office and takes out every guard before they know what hit them.

Finally, he pins the President to his desk and aims to stab him in the chest but gets shot and teleports away. We're left with the image of the President heaving on the desk, with the knife stabbed into the wood beside him, with the words "Mutant Freedom Now" emblazoned on a ribbon.

It's a startling scene that showcases a bigger budget for visual effects and a much more global plot for the X-Men sequel. Director Bryan Singer couldn't have brought Nightcrawler into the fray in a cooler way.
