10 Best Performances In 2018's Worst Movies

3. Tom Hardy (Venom)

Venom may be many things: a bizarre throwback to early 2000s superhero movies, tonally off-kilter and unintentionally hilarious, but you certainly can't call it boring.

But the real reason Venom even dares to be a bonkers future trash classic is Tom Hardy's insane, go-for-broke turn as Eddie Brock/Venom.

This is as far away from the Oscar-courting, super-serious Hardy as we're probably ever going to get, and to his sure credit, he completely immerses himself in the role.

As a result Venom basically becomes Hardy's free-wheeling performance sandbox, allowing him to go big and make some eccentric choices that wouldn't fly in most other movies.

After all, where else can you see Hardy screech around a restaurant, jump in a fish tank and start snacking on a live lobster?

His banter with Venom (also performed by Hardy) is at least perversely entertaining at times, and overall you just have to begrudgingly respect a world-class actor for even wanting to go to this place.

With the movie's immense box office success despite negative reviews, the inevitable sequel shouldn't skimp on opportunities for Hardy to go bats*** crazy once again. And hopefully it might be a better movie, too.
