10 Best Performances In The Star Wars Franchise

1. Ewan McGregor - Obi-Wan Kenobi

Alec Guinness may have laid the groundwork for Obi-Wan Kenobi, but when the Prequel Trilogy came along it was Ewan McGregor who perfected the role..

As a whole, the Prequels are not brilliant films, with only Revenge of the Sith capturing aspects of what made the Original Trilogy so great. But with each film, no matter how dire the plot proves to be, it's McGregor who delivers without fail and saves the day.

Playing the younger Jedi as witty and wise, McGregor manages to make Kenobi both cynical and hopeful all at once - a man with a constant "bad feeling" who nonetheless is always sure things are going to work out.

Watching him go from young Padawan in The Phantom Menace to member of the Jedi Council in Revenge of the Sith was a blast, perfectly executed by McGregor and setting up his upcoming mini-series.

Look no further than his final words with Anakin in Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan cuts his former apprentice down and proclaims his brotherly love for him before walking away - from his friend, and his past. McGregor acts his heart out with every scene he gets, and in that moment he cemented himself as the best actor in the Star Wars canon.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
