Across Django Unchained's three-hour runtime there are a plethora of exceptional performances on display. From Christoph Waltz's immensely likeable Dr King Schultz to Leonardo DiCaprio's despicable Calvin Candie, the vast majority of main and supporting actors bring their A game.

Quentin Tarantino is familiar with western genre, but is perhaps more familiar with Samuel L. Jackson, as the pair have worked together on the majority of the director's releases. While Jules Winnfield is surely Jackson's most iconic character, Stephen Warren is without question his best performance.

Warren is a house slave, and right-hand man to Candie himself. When Jackson appears on screen for the first time you'll be forgiven for not recognising him at first, as he's decidedly dumpier and far less physically intimidating - yet his evil aura will have you detesting him more still than DiCaprio's Calvin Candie.

Jackson steals every scene he's in, which is an incredible accomplishment when the scene features two-time Oscar winner (one for this very film) Christoph Waltz, one-time winner (though it should be more) Leonardo DiCaprio, and multiple-time Golden Globe nominee Kerry Washington.

Stephen Warren is the most adventurous role Jackson has undertaken, and few would deny that it's his best.
