10 Best Pieces Of Advice From Our Favourite Film Father Figures

2. George Banks (Father Of The Bride)

Father Of The Bride
Buena Vista Pictures

On protection:

“Drive carefully. And don't forget to fasten your condom.”

We’re pretty sure that the face-palm was invented right around the same time that we were introduced to George Banks, the befuddled father who has a hard time letting go of his “young” daughter.

George is the epitome of the scrupulous father figure and his overreacting personality is put to the test when his daughter, Annie, announces she is getting hitched at the tender age of twenty-two.

Despite his solid financial status and pleasant attitude, George takes an instant dislike to his daughter’s fiancé, Bryan, while Annie’s mother, Nina, welcomes her future son-in-law with open arms (and an open heart).

Keeping a watchful eye on the pair, George simply cannot resist offering his advice to the youngsters, but embarrassingly for him, it often produces hilarious results.

Nice try, George.
