10 Best Pixar Shorts That Play Before The Movie

7. La Luna

luna jrPlays Before: Brave Cuteness Level: Jack-Jack from The Incredibles (aka the cuter descendant of a great family) Unlike the previous shorts La Luna focuses on humans, but somehow it is even more magical and incredible. The story of a boy and his dad and his dad's dad shuffling shining stars around the moon to match its phase, La Luna says a lot without saying a word. The boy is following in his parents footsteps (he was born to do it, he even has the moon in his eyes) but he also finds a way to choose his own path. While the movie has quite a few funny sight gags (the tools the grown-ups use mirror their facial hair) La Luna doesn't bog down the story with extraneous details. It takes a step away from the photographic realism of some of the more recent Pixar projects to show a fairy tale parable about a boy's relationship with his father, which is yet another Pixar theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrDxjhdhWwc Directed by Enrico Casarosa with an Italian flair which distinguishes it from the WASPier Disney fairy tales, La Luna is a remarkable experience and a beautiful recent addition to Pixar's repertoire.
