10 Best Revenge Movies Of All Time

7. Carrie - 1976

John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum Keanu Reeves
Warner Bros. Pictures

Carrie is unlike the other entries on this list. She isn't going after bad guys with a gun or hunting down villains. This is an entirely different approach. Based on the Stephen King book of the same name, there have been remakes but the 1976 Sissy Spacek movie, directed by Brian De Palma, is the one to go for. For many it is the best adaptation of any Stephen King book, an author who hasn't always been served well by film treatments of his best-selling novels.

Spacek is perfectly cast in the titular role and was actually nominated for an Oscar for the part. Playing a shy 16-year-old who is bullied and tormented, the act of revenge takes place after she is humiliated on the stage at her prom in front of the school, when a bucket of pig's blood is tipped over her.

Carrie has the gift of telekinesis, and can move objects at will, start fires and wreak havoc on her enemies. This she proceeds to do in a memorable final fifteen minutes when all of her tormentors get exactly what they deserve. Wish fulfilment for every bullied schoolgirl.
