10 Best Roger Deakins Movies

6. Skyfall

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
MGM

Reuniting with Sam Mendes, whom he had worked with on Jarhead and Revolutionary Road, Deakins crafted easily the best-looking James Bond movie in the form of Skyfall.

While the previous Daniel Craig Bond movies (Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) felt at times like Jason Bourne rip-offs, Skyfall looked fitting for the 50th Anniversary of one of the most successful film franchises of all times, perfectly embodying the classic and new eras.

Whether it's the shot of Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem) stumbling away from the burning Skyfall house or the sight of Bond arriving at the Macau casino by boat, it is a true joy to watch, although admittedly not quite as good as that years' Oscar winner, Life of Pie.
