10 Best Scenes When Movie Characters Turned Evil

5. Ozymandias - The Watchmen

In Alan Moore's The Watchmen, Adrian Alexander Veidt, otherwise known as Ozymandias, is presented as the central figure in a plot to turn the USSR and USA from fighting one another, into two unlikely allies facing off against an alien threat. The film followed a similar narrative but opted to use Dr. Manhattan as the threat instead of an extraterrestrial one.

In a way, Ozymandias isn't evil; rather, he's a good man who is doing what he believes is right even if it results in the deaths of millions of people. The age-old argument of preferring to kill millions if it prevents the deaths of billions was his justification for his actions.

Ozymandias doesn't have a single transitional moment in the film, as he starts the movie by killing the Comedian. If there was a single moment that indicated his past actions as a "good" superhero were flipped for the "evil" actions of a supervillain, it happened at the end of the movie.

When the heroes confront their former ally over what he was doing, they fight, and Ozymandias reveals his plan. It was at this moment; he revealed that he already did the deed they were hoping to prevent, which stands as a transitional scene showcasing that he had, in fact, committed genocide, and there was no way to prevent it.

"I’m not a comic book villain. Do you seriously think I would explain my master stroke to you if there were even the slightest possibility you could affect the outcome?"
