10 Best Second Kills In Horror Movies
1. Daniel Soral - High Tension
Well, for once it's nice to write about High Tension without trashing its lousy twist ending, but rather focus on the awesome - namely that unforgettable second kill.
Alexandre Aja's fantastically grimy slasher flick kicks off with the central serial killer decapitating a woman, after which "he" takes a trek to Alex's (Maïwenn) parents' house and knocks on the door.
When Alex's father Daniel (Andrei Finti) answers, he's brutally attacked by the killer, who forces his head between two spindles of the staircase, then grabs a bookcase and shoves it into his head, taking his noggin clean off.
It's a completely ridiculous kill of course, because the force needed to decapitate someone with a single shove of a bookcase is astronomical, yet the creativity and disturbingly gory end result make this a death scene you won't forget for years, even decades.
No matter High Tension's many, many third act problems, the opening reel is utterly gut-wrenching.
