Despite the robots, monsters, aliens, Jedi, Sith etc etc, for as long as Star Wars fans have been cosplaying Star Wars characters, one Leia Organa has been the most popular. It helps that she's got two recognisable looks that are definitively iconic: the doorstep-challenge white senator's gown you can see here, complete with her hair coiled like pastries on either side of her head, or the slave-girl get-up that Jabba makes her wear in Return Of The Jedi (of which more later). Leia's not your typical damsel in distress, though: she's handy with a blaster, utterly fearless, and short-tempered with a caustic, dry sense of humour. She's also an actual senator, too - the youngest ever in the Galactic Senate, reaching that position at the age of eighteen, while secretly also being one of the pillars of the Rebellion. It's easy to see why Leia Organa would seem like a pretty decent role model to Star Wars fans of a certain age.
