10 Best Superhero Movie Moments Of The Last Decade

9. Thor Ragnarok - The God Of Thunder

Thor Spin
Marvel Studios

It took three films for Thor to realise his full potential in this crowning moment from Taika Waititi's fantastic cosmic romp.

Whilst Thor might have had to deal with a lot of speculation over his self-proclaimed status as the strongest Avenger, fans always knew that he still had yet to realise his true potential as the God of Thunder on-screen.

Taika Waititi finally gave fans what they were hoping for in Thor Ragnarok when Thor has had his ass handed to him by his elder sister Hela the Goddess of Death, and she pins him down and mocks him for his weakness, and ridicules his status as a God questioning what he was supposed to be the God of in the first place.

It is at this moment Thor, after a brief pep-talk from father Odin, politely reminds Hera in the most subtle way exactly what he is the God of, by blasting her with the mother of all lightning bolts and proceeding to lay the smackdown on her undead legion.

Aside from the stunning visuals, the re-use of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song for the second time in the movie, and the general sheer bloody awesomeness of it all, it pays to remember that the audience had already seen much of this scene from the trailers, yet this did nothing to lessen the epicness or impact. It is a standout moment from one of Marvel's best films and worthy of inclusion on this list.
