10 Best Superhero Movie Moments Of The Last Decade

6. Guardians Of The Galaxy: Opening Titles

Guardians Of The Galaxy was a gamechanger that raised the bar and changed the approach to all the subsequent films in the genre. And it all started incredibly well.

The first Guardians outing will probably still be ranked as the greatest opening entry into the MCU at the end of the next decade let alone the one it premiered in. Watching Chris Pratt's Star-Lord lip-synch his way through Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love" was brilliantly subversive, as well as humorous, and set the tone for the rest of the film brilliantly.

But a crucial part of this scene is understanding that it is not just humour that made GOTG amazing but instead, it actually comes down to something much deeper, and that is the amount of heart and soul that this film has at its core. Director James Gunn lovingly put this film together, every detail, song choice, gag, is all his inclusion, and it is really no surprise that we all end up caring about the characters by the end of the film as much as we do thanks to his brilliance and the commitment from the cast to realising their characters.

Furthermore, this scene personifies what this film in the wider context was for Marvel; an absolute game-changer for the future of the franchise. It introduced a completely different style and approach to the MCU at large and has paved the way for more left-field directors like Gunn to join the growing film franchise, and it all started, from this opening scene.
