10 Best Superhero Movie Theme Songs
8. Man Of Steel - Hans Zimmer
No Superman theme can possibly top John Williams' work on the 1978 film (don't worry, we'll get to that), but Hans Zimmer still put in a fantastic effort for the score to Man of Steel. He creates a unique sound for this new interpretation on the character, whilst simultaneously capturing that same feeling of soaring through the clouds that Williams did.
Whether you love or hate Zack Snyder's take on the character, Zimmer's theme is a perfect companion piece to this Superman. It starts out slow and sad before gradually building, then exploding into a bombastic display of heroism. Whereas Williams' music makes you feel like you are gently flying over the city, Zimmer's music makes you feel like you're being hurtled through the clouds at supersonic speeds.
That by no means makes it a better experience, but it does make it a distinctive one. It would have been easy to just ape the work that came before and call it a day, but Zimmer brought his own style to the table and crafted a genuinely great superhero theme that is arguably better than the film it was composed for.
