10 Best Supernatural Horror Movies Of The Last Decade
3. The Conjuring
Horror in the 2010s can really be defined by one man. James Wan.
The director brought his own style and flare to his horror films, while also influencing jump scares for the rest of the decade. His immaculate timing paired with drawn-out tension makes for a very uncomfortable viewing experience.
The Conjuring is a prime example of this. Focusing on real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, this story follows their journey to a family in Rhode Island who are experiencing a supernatural presence. From there, Wan weaves a tale of intrigue and horror that had not been seen since The Exorcist in the 1970s.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga head up the stacked cast. The duo have a great rapport with one another which really allows you to get invested in their story and lives. On top of this, The Conjuring features some of the best tension in horror cinema.
James Wan is a master of his craft and The Conjuring is just another notch on his belt.
