10 Best Teen Comedies Of The Decade

9. Love, Simon

Eighth Grade
Fox

It's hard to really blame the world for going crazy over Love, Simon – after all, it does do something remarkable by having its protagonist be a young gay teen struggling with coming out. It's not always successful (and is sometimes downright fantasy), but just the fact that it doesn't feature a straight romance was a big risk and a commendable one.

If that alone doesn't get you interested in the film, you should probably sit this one out, but if it does, you'll be pleased to find a charming pleasant film that never overstays its welcome. Its moments of sweetness and genuineness come frequently and bountifully.

Love, Simon is by no means a great film, but it's a sweet enough adaptation of its beloved YA novel, and there's definitely something to it being the first wide-release film to focus on a gay teen boy.
