7. Deadpool (2016)
Deadpool brought a whole new spin to the superhero movie. Tony Stark had been cracking wise before Ryan Reynolds came along, but he'd never been as coarse or as vulgar. This movie initiated such a shift in tone in the superhero universe, you're be able to tell if a movie was pre-Deadpool merely by the way it approaches humour.
By this point we'd had too many golden-boy superheroes; your Supermans and Captain Americas were so perfect they were boring. Those who were a little more nuanced were just depressingly morose - we're looking at you Batman! - but Deadpool, on the other hand, was a straight up assh*le. Still, at least he was a loveable one, though. This was a new kind of protagonist and people liked it.
