10 Best Times The Lord Of The Rings Appeared In Other Movies

4. Run Fatboy Run (2007)

This Is The End Seth Rogen

Run Fatboy Run is a criminally underrated comedy, directed by none other than David Schwimmer and starring the ever amusing Simon Pegg. Admittedly the premise is somewhat ridiculous: Pegg must win a marathon in order to win back his estranged wife (Thandiwe Newton) and his small son - both of whom are in danger of being whisked off to America by Newton's new suitor, played by Hank Azaria.

Premise aside, it's actually a fairly touching film, filled with classic Pegg gags and an utterly hilarious performance by Dylan Moran in a supporting role. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth a watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Aside from seeing Simon Pegg squeeze into the smallest running shorts imaginable, there's also a number of references to The Lord of the Rings throughout. Among one of the many things Pegg's character falls short at, he fails to obtain tickets to the Lord of the Rings stage production for his young son. It becomes a point of contentions when Hank Azaria's character manages to bag a couple of VIP seats, painting Pegg as an incompetent father once again.
