10 Best Times The Lord Of The Rings Appeared In Other Movies

2. Juno (2007)

This Is The End Seth Rogen
Fox Searchlight Pictures

The coming-of-age, teen-pregnancy movie, Juno, was one of the most celebrated on-the-nose comedy-dramas of the 2000s. The film featured Michael Cera playing a blindsided and bewildered father-to-be. J.K. Simmons played a gruff but understanding grandfather-to-be. And, there was an indie-soundtrack, equals parts charming and heartwarming.

It was Elliot Page's humorous yet touching performance as a teenager - coming to terms with an unplanned pregnancy - that really won people over, though. Page's character was filled with witty one liners, sarcastic comments and devastatingly accurate assessments of the people she came into contact with.

While telling the audience about the mother of her child's father, she describes her most unflatteringly as being hobbit-like. As June puts it, "Bleeker's mom was possibly attractive once, but now she looks like a hobbit. You know, the fat one, that was in the Goonies."

This was a reference to poor old Samwise Gamgee, who was played by Sean Astin, made famous by his role in the Goonies (1985).
