7. Much Ado About Nothing
Shakespeare has never seemed so appealing, unless we're talking Romeo and Juliet exhaustively remade until it is, like its lovers, beauty destroyed upon itself. The casual, approachable nature of Shakespeare in this modern-day trailer is enough to draw in viewers if only to prove to ourselves, for once, that we really can understand his works. The art house vibe is refreshing, especially considering how few wide-release films are of the sort. Don't mistake classy for antiquated! Though the first impression I had of this trailer is that one would have to be in his or her 30s or upwards in order to be drawn to it and ultimately appreciate it, it trumps the recycled, bland competition that often hits theaters from the romance genre by far. The trailer suggests smart, spicy romance, and I don't just mean smart as in Shakespeare. I'm not too keen on the trailer's black-and-white with selectively colored pieces thrown in like one would find in a tween's Facebook or bad anniversary album. Nonetheless, the chemistry between the cast members appears something electric alongside that sultry jazz number. As for the trailer for Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, I gotta say, it's really something.
