6. Now You See Me
Jesse Eisenberg is back with all his wise-crack comments from his Social Network days, once again portraying an intelligent and arrogant young man of fame. His return to this kind of role is the trailer's primary selling point, as is any movie with Morgan Freeman in it, though the money falling out of the sky doesn't hurt. This trailer appeals to common audience members' circumstances following the 2008 economic crash as the star-studded cast empathizes with a magic show audience about losing money, homes, or cars; cue the money shower. The visuals are sleek, the cast is invaluable, the sexy and lively nature of the Vegas performance previews are captivating, and the trailer's cuts are as sharp as Eisenberg himself -- with all of this working in a trailer, who needs magic? As with any audience of a booming show, the energy of the performance becomes contagious. This trailer is no exception for theater audiences. And like any good magic show, this trailer does not share all of its tricks. Reviews for Now You See Me are not so hot, leaving you to wonder whether it's Hollywood or magic that's truly deceiving you more. But as with the typical success of a magic show, the trailer leaves audiences full of questions and coming back to try to figure it all out.
