10 Best 'Worst' Movies Of 2017 (So Far)

8. The Great Wall

XXX Return Of Xander Cage Vin Diesel
Universal

In any other year a movie about a mercenary who fights monsters on the Great Wall of China would take pride of place on a list like this, but 2017 is an exceptionally odd time and The Great Wall fumbles the ball one time too many to claim the top spot.

Running nearly two and a half hours, the movie was way too long to sit through in the cinema, but at least on DVD you can stick around around for the monster fighting stuff (awesome) and make your excuses during all the talky bits (meh). Also, the producers missed a trick by casting Matt Damon instead of Nicolas Cage, whose very presence would’ve guaranteed Bad Movie nirvana.

The Great Wall thinks it’s an epic – it is, after all, directed by the great Yimou Zhang, who gave us House Of Flying Daggers and Hero – but it refuses to accept that the audience for this sort of thing just wants two hours of dudes fighting monsters. Perhaps Resident Evil’s Paul WS Anderson could helm the sequel?
