10 Big 2020 Movies You Should Be Worried About
1. Sonic The Hedgehog
Even without the CGI to worry about, things aren’t likely to be plain sailing for Sonic. Although the weirdly realistic, toothy design was an absolute horror show, the original trailer had more issues than that.
The reason for Sonic being in our world seems sketchy at best, and although plot isn’t crucial in kids films, you’d at least want to be able to explain it. The jokes, too, felt forced and dated. If that’s the best they have, the movie is definitely not gonna go fast.
In a way, you could make the argument that we owe it Sonic to go and see it. Arguments of cheap marketing or cynical conspiracy theories aside, the studio actually listened to fans for once and made huge improvements to the character design. Even if the movie was still naff, at least Sonic looked great.
Then they went and fired their staff. Just before Christmas. It’s a nomadic business, but that still feels incredibly harsh, and it’s hard to feel like you owe them now.
It’s a movie built on that feeling of nostalgia, hoping Sonic fan parents take their kids along. Unfortunately, it might not be worth it.
