10 Big Films From 2013 You've Probably Already Forgotten About
5. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
U.S. Release Date: March 15th What was this one about again? A washed up Las Vegas magician attempts to reunite with his old partner so they can take down dangerous street magician, Steve Gray. Remember this one? Steve Carrell and Steve Buscemi parody Sigfried and Roy-like characters while Jim Carrey does his best Criss Angel impression? Yeah, I don't really remember it either and I actually saw it in theaters. I wanted to see it because I like Steve Carrell and I grew up watching Jim Carrey when I was a kid. Plus, who doesn't love Steve Buscemi? A lot of people simply weren't into watching a movie about dueling magicians regardless of who was starring, and while I recall laughing at the movie a couple of times, I honestly cannot recall any of the jokes. The memory of this movie, for me, has simply disappeared. It's like magic. The premise of the movie did seem pretty outdated to begin with. When was the last time Sigfried and Roy were relevant? Or Criss Angel? Or even David Blaine? And while the cast certainly seemed game, especially Jim Carrey who was desperately trying to steal the show, it was just not clever enough to sustain itself. If there is one reason to watch this movie, it's to catch James Gandolfini in his final film role before he passed away. But, you're better off just watching "Enough Said," which came out three months after he died and has been getting much better reviews.
