9. James McAvoy, Swimming Pool
Also known as The Pool in the UK and the United States, this one is definitely best forgotten. The concept of the film depicted a series of violent, slasher styled murders based in and around a swimming pool. The totally moronic plot and concept was accompanied by the slightly more promising tagline of 'evil has surfaced'; though the 'evil' of which was referred to was rather more reminiscent of a sadomasochistic, machete toting gimp. Ever the beacon of hope in an otherwise showcase of crap, McAvoy's character Mike, a soon to be graduated student at Prague's International High School, exited the film early on; his end coming when attempting to escape out of the usually foolproof air vents. Those who have witnessed McAvoy in the pre-Wanted years will be fully aware that this is a man who never leaves anything in the locker room. So it is that this is the case in Swimming Pool, with McAvoy putting to shame his more forgettable co-actors in less than half the screen time. His participation in this film can only really be seen as a means of promoting himself to the world; for which no shame can be accredited.
