8. Mickey Rourke, Fade to Black
Filmed during Rourke's pre-plastic surgery and professional boxing days, Fade to Black tells of a film-geek's revenge when the disappointment he faces on a day-to-day basis becomes overwhelming. Rourke, playing as the bully of said film-geek, is taken out when he makes the ill-fated decision to abandon repentance in favour of toying with his killer. The killer, in the guise of Hopalong Cassidy, takes down Rourke in a classic Western showdown. The film itself was generally met positively, with the fun and innovative idea of a relay of classic horror characters being especially credited to the film's success. In retrospect, it could also be said that this was where the film failed to achieve greatness also. Some of the characters were too obscure or generic for viewers to identify with, or weren't iconic enough to be considered amongst the greats. Nevertheless, it is a tale which should not go unwatched.
