3. Kevin Bacon, Friday the 13th
In probably one of the best anti-drugs messages of the twentieth century, Friday the 13th starred a pre-Footloose Kevin Bacon in what would trigger possibly the most tediously unrelenting horror series of all time. Alluding to the popular Western superstition, the film follows the murderous rampage of Mrs Voorhees; a serial killer at Camp Crystal Lake who turns out to be the mother of a certain Jason Voorhees. Whilst relaxing on camp with a marijuana joint, Bacon's character Jack dies in the most unexpected fashion; the slow protrusion of an arrow penetrates through Jack's throat to eradicate him from the story. Could there be a more blatant metaphor for 'don't do drugs'? Although considered one of the first real slasher films, Friday the 13th was not met with overwhelming critical appraise; though the public did greet it with less dissatisfaction. Since then, it has developed a cult following, spawning ten sequels and a 2009 reboot. Sadly for those who love the horror genre, the assumption that the door has been shut on Jason and co may not be a realistic one.
