While there is a genuine attempt to showcase the slightly less discussed early movie reveals here, it would be tough to do such a list and not include Saw's major early warning sign.

Extremely worthy offerings like The Thing and Hereditary aren't included here, yet such an article wouldn't be complete without at least some mention of Saw.

Of course, we all know that the overarching 'big bad' of the Saw franchise - even from the grave, at times - is John Kramer, aka the Jigsaw Killer. But at a first watch of the original Saw, everyone was left shocked when a totally, totally, totally dead body stood up at the film's close and revealed himself as a maniacal mastermind.

For Jigsaw, his M.O. is that he wants people to realise how precious life really is. And to do that, he puts them in situations where they're pushed to their absolute limits in terms of what lengths they'll go to in order to stay alive.

If you were one of those playing eagle-eyed attention, though, then you'd have picked up on the fact that there was certainly something going on with John Kramer. That's due to how the hospitalised Kramer was spotted earlier in the movie with a bedside doodle of what was the franchise's iconic reverse bear trap device.
