10 Big Movie Twists That Were So Obvious It Actually Hurt

1. The Final Battle Never Really Happened - The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2

Lionsgate

The Twist: During the final battle, there are mass casualties, including good-guys Carlisle (who is shockingly decapitated by Aro) and Jasper, as well as the Volturi's Jane (Dakota Fanning) among countless others. The battle ends with Jacob and Bella ripping Aro's head off, before we realise that none of this actually happened, and it was merely Alice showing Aro a vision of what would happen if a battle ensued. This causes the Volturi to retreat.

Why It's Obvious: Well, if you've read the books, this one sends up a major "WTF!?" flag, given how the ending of Breaking Dawn is frequently criticised by fans for being anti-climactic. Some fans may have just assumed that the filmmakers had changed the ending for a more impacted finale, but it's pretty easy to guess that this is merely a vision of a possible future.

It's quite clever, really: it's a way of giving viewers a brutal finale, but at the same time not deviating from the source material. Even those who haven't read the books might've caught a whiff of something strange; given how they might be aware that the final book is criticised for just petering out, seeing Carlisle's head get torn off certainly seems pretty far away from that.
