10 Big Movies That Suffered Even Bigger Disasters Whilst Being Made

9. The Dark Knight

Harry Potter Deathly Hallows
Warner Bros. Pictures

The Dark Knight Batman sequel directed by Christopher Nolan in 2008 is full of action packed stunts and sequences, meaning it may not prove entirely surprising to learn of the danger these brought to filming. For technician Conway Wickliffe, this danger would prove all too tragically real.

Witnesses claimed that Wickliffe was in a car shooting in front of an oncoming test shoot chase scene, leaning out of the window of the vehicle to capture what was happening on camera. At the end of the scene, many crew members were assured that the test had gone according to plan, until a crew member came running towards them, exclaiming that there had been an accident.

The car in which Wickliffe had been travelling in had continued off the road and over grass, impacting a tree and coming to a stop. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death was not the only disaster the crew faced from what they called the 'Curse Of Batman', after Joker actor Heath Ledger tragically passed before the film and actor Morgan Freeman suffered injuries in his own car crash in Mississippi.
