10 Big-Name Actors Who Were Wasted In Major Blockbusters

5. Jared Leto In Suicide Squad

In the darkest days of the DC Extended Universe, a little film called Suicide Squad continued the franchise's rotten and trudging attempts to chase Marvel's box office returns. When Jared Leto was announced as a new version of the Joker, it got people talking in 2016. In the lead-up to release, Warner Bros took full advantage of this story thread to push the film to the masses, promising a new and different take on the wildly recognisable character.

Every time the clown prince of crime shows up on the big screen, there's a big discussion that unfolds around how he'll be portrayed and how it will compare to previous efforts. Leto made headlines for his creepy antics on set, though given the actor's talent, some still hoped he would turn out well. Regretfully the film we all saw was a sloppy, undercooked mess, with one of its biggest criticism being the lack of Joker on-screen.

Leto's performance itself turned out to be shallow and corny, a massive waste of his talents and the role was forgotten quickly. Can they do better with the resurrected second try of the film from James Gunn? We'll have to wait and find out.
