10 Big-Name Actors Who Were Wasted In Major Blockbusters
4. J.K Simmons in Termintor Genysis
As the second attempt to reboot the now extinct sci-fi franchise, Terminator Genisys is arguably the lowest point of the series, bungling up its lore and making all kinds of idiotic decisions that dragged the series through the mud.
One actor who somehow made it in found himself placed in a miniscule and ultimately pointless supporting role. When Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese journey to the future of 2017, many an audience were surprised to see J.K Simmons show up playing a police detective. Of course we all remember him for nailing the character of J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy.
The skilled actor of course went nowhere with his role in the film, merely commenting on events as they happened. J.K Simmons wasn't featured so prominently in the spoiler-filled marketing for Genysis, but that didn't change how little he contributed to the story.
He ended up being a painfully shallow police detective who showed up for a couple of scenes and has little bearing on the narrative. He's a small part to this insult to the Terminator franchise, but given the actor's massive pedigree, especially coming off of Whiplash the previous year, Simmons deserved better.
