2. Thomas Harewood Becomes A Terrorist To Save His Dying Daughter - Star Trek Into Darkness
An establishing scene of Star Trek Into Darkness introduces us to Thomas Harewood (played by the distractingly miscast Noel Clarke), a Starfleet officer whose young daughter is dying in a London hospital. He is approached by Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch) with a solution (his magical healing blood), on the condition that Harewood help him out in return. The task? To slip a bomb into the Starfleet 31 HQ, killing himself and 41 others... Now, we can all sympathise with someone suffering through the toil of a terminally ill child, but really, does that excuse causing the murder of masses of people, colleagues no less, to prevent its occurrence? Though people will go to the ends of the Earth for family, this one is just a step too far. Plus, it set in motion the massively contrived set of circumstances that define the entire movie.
