10 Biggest Fan Service Moments In Marvel Movies
1. "I Am Iron Man" - Avengers: Endgame
Most people can boil a character down to the way they announce their presence. "I am Batman", "Bond... James Bond". Throughout film history, this kind of self-introduction is a great way of getting the audience acclimatised with how the characters sees themselves. Or if you're Tony Stark, providing one of the greatest bookends to a character in cinematic history.
Going through the very first Iron Man movie, it made sense that Tony would forego the secret identity BS and just announce to the world that he's the hero who saved everyone at the end of the film.
After over a decade on the screen though, we have got to see Tony grow up into a much greater person, relying less on himself and learning to embrace change alongside his fellow Avengers. Though he may have lost it all in Infinity War, his final moments in Endgame is where everything comes back around.
Knowing that the only way for Thanos to be defeated is by sacrificing himself by snapping his fingers, Tony manages to get the Infinity Stones and upending Thanos' "I am inevitable" with "I am Iron Man." While already serving as a great retort to Thanos' hubris, this is also a great way of bringing Tony back down to Earth, being the one fully human genius that managed to save the world instead of the gods and super soldiers that have come and gone. It's not a statement of leaving, but a celebration of a life well lived.
