10 Biggest Feuds In Star Wars History
5. Sir Alec Guinness And Star Wars
It has been well-documented that Guinness was never a fan of Star Wars. As noted by The Guardian upon the film's 1977 release, Guinness admitted that "apart from the money, I regret having embarked on the film."
Guinness even seemed to enforce his hatred of the franchise onto fans he would meet. In his autobiography, A Positively Final Appearance, Guinness recalled of an incident when he met a Star Wars fan who had seen the first film over a hundred times, and had told them he would only give them his autograph if they promised never to watch Star Wars again.
Whilst Guinness loathed working on Star Wars, it was certainly worth it. Guinness was able to secure 2.25% in royalties of the overall box office revenue in a deal he made with George Lucas.
Since Star Wars was one of the most profitable films of all time, it hopefully made working on the flick a little sweeter.
Guinness would also appear in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but insisted that he only signed on for the role "out of courtesy", and that if anything, he thought "[The Empire Strikes Back] was worse than the first" and that he "really did not want to do it."
