10 Biggest Flaws Of The 10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of 2014
3. The Incredibly By-The-Numbers Script - Maleficent
Box Office Gross: $757,752,378 Disney's Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie as the infamous villain from Sleepy Beauty in this live-action prequel, stands as one of the most rudimentary blockbusters ever made. In other words, it's insanely predictable, has absolutely no edge or a sense of personality, and is completely contented to exist entirely as a "product." In short, it's a fantasy movie missing the most important ingredient: magic. There's no denying, of course, that Jolie - credit where credit is due, after all - is fantastic as Maleficent. But she's just about the only thing in the picture that truly sparkles. The script is so incessantly by-the-numbers (almost to the point of parody) that you can predict what's going to happen at every turn. Besides, you've seen it all before... and Maleficent reaffirms that you really don't want to see it again.
