10 Biggest Lies Actors Told To Get Movie Roles

6. Liam Hemsworth's Volleyball Lie Made Him Look Stupid

Being cast in awful sequels to Will Smith movies isn't the only thing that Hemsworth brothers Liam and Chris have in common: they also enjoy a juicy fib.

In 2010 romantic drama The Last Song, Hemsworth was cast as Will Blakelee, a character with some mad beach volleyball skills. Just before shooting began, the actor assured the filmmakers that he was also very good at the sport, but, as you probably guessed, that wasn't true in the slightest.

Hemsworth managed to get away with his lie until the day came to actually play some volleyball. Scared of embarrassing himself in front of the crew, he asked his director if they could use a double instead, but his height made it difficult to find a match. So, he was forced to play the game himself, which, as he told Collider, didn't go to plan:

"We had days where it was just us, and we were playing pretty good against extras who hadn’t played before. We looked okay then. But, we had a day where we had 300 extras there, watching us play against professional volleyball players, and they made us look stupid."

Imagine saying "yeah, sure, I can ride a skateboard" thinking that you'll be working with some random extras, only to show up and find that your scene is with Tony Hawk.
