10 Biggest Mistakes Made By MCU Heroes

7. Rocket's Batteries

With the exception of Gamora, the Guardians of the Galaxy are far from the MCU’s brightest heroes, generally triumphing through courage and improvisation instead of good decision-making. But even by their haphazard standards, Rocket’s decision to steal the Sovereign’s Anulax batteries was a costly error. The fleet dispatched by the furious Sovereign would have wiped the Guardians out had Ego not intervened, demonstrating just how foolish the needless theft had been.

The consequences didn’t stop there. Ayesha’s bounty provoked a mutiny amongst Yondu’s Ravagers when their captain refused to capture the Guardians. The Ravagers loyal to Yondu wouldn’t have been cruelly murdered by Taserface’s mutineers if Rocket hadn't made an enemy of the Sovereign.

Yondu himself would pay the price for Rocket’s theft, as the Sovereign fleet’s intervention in the Guardians’ struggle against Ego destroyed the team’s Laser Drill and rendered Mantis unconscious, which awakened the sleeping celestial.

Although Rocket was able to make the best of his mistake by using the batteries as a bomb to kill Ego, Yondu would have survived had the initial plan with the drill succeeded and Ego remained asleep.
