10 Biggest Mistakes In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. This Is A Man€™s World

That romances in the MCU are typically underwhelming isn€™t so much because there€™s too much fighting and exploding to do but because the fairer sex tend to be given short shrift all too often. True, Black Widow is a standout independent character and Peggy Carter will soon feature in her own TV show, but there€™s only one winner in this battle of the sexes. Agent Coulson may have come back from the grave, but don€™t expect Thor€™s old dear Frigga to return any time soon. Much as Lady Sif is clearly not to be messed with, she was cruelly sidelined in the Thor sequel, thus depriving the film of what could have been a genuinely interesting love triangle subplot, and Nebula€™s sole purpose in Guardians was apparently to give Gamora someone to fight. Captain Marvel might be a step in the right direction as far as addressing an increasingly obvious inequality, but if this comes to pass at all (the superhero bubble simply must burst at some point) it will be the nineteenth entry before a woman take centre stage in the MCU. Nicole Perlman€™s position as the first credited Marvel screenwriter for her work on Guardians has been undermined by James Gunn€™s comments about his own input, while we are yet to see a woman in the director€™s chair. Of all the potential criticisms of the MCU, this one might be the most watertight. In the Marvel grand design, women have been consistently short-changed. It€™s that simple.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
