10 Biggest Movie Controversies Of 2018

3. "Allergy Bullying" - Peter Rabbit

Shortly after Sony's live-action-animated Peter Rabbit adaptation hit cinemas, there was outcry from a small but vocal minority that the movie featured a sequence of "allergy bullying."

You see, human protagonist Thomas McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) is an uptight wet blanket who spends most of the movie feuding with Peter (James Corden), as the adorable rabbit proves a constantly bothersome presence in his garden.

But things get dangerous when Peter throws blueberries at Thomas, who is previously established to be deathly allergic to them. As a result, he goes into anaphylactic shock and has to save his own life with his Epipen.

Many saw the scene as especially distasteful because it appeared in a film aimed at impressionable children, who as a result perhaps wouldn't appreciate the true danger that the allergies of their friends and classmates might have.

More than anything, it just made Peter look like a bit of a douche, which is rather unfortunate.
