4. X-Men: Apocalypse Announced For 2016

Apocalypse It was a busy news week for comic book films, as received a major casting announcement for Batman Vs. Superman (more on that in a minute), a new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and word that Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow had finished his script draft for the upcoming X-Force film. Now, we have an unexpected bit of news from X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer via his twitter account: https://twitter.com/BryanSinger/statuses/408707930116980736 That's right, X-Men fans. The villain Apocalypse will finally appear on the big screen! For those unfamiliar with the character, Apocalypse is an ancient mutant, who has conquered the world in an alternate timeline and rules with an iron fist. Fans went wild with speculation that he might appear in Days of Future past because of how much his story is dependent on time travel and alternate realities, which will be explored in DoFP when it hits theaters in May. Bryan Singer had previously promised that the X-Men franchise was going to be blown wide open, putting it on par with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If all goes well and DoFP proves successful, that may just be the case. 20th Century Fox is slowly building a universe around the mutants with a few upcoming films, including DoFP, a third Wolverine film, Fantastic Four in 2015, X-Force, that Deadpool movie we're all waiting for, and now Apocalypse in 2016.
