9. Amazon To Resurrect The Tick TV Series With Patrick Warburton?!
File this one away as a rumor for now, but a report came in late Friday night that Amazon was reviving the short-lived cult TV series The Tick, and that star Patrick Warburton and character creator Ben Edlund would be part of the revival. This may just be wishful thinking, but if true, this would be incredible news. The Tick sported a spot-on blend of broad comedy and clever, smart satire; but only ran for nine episodes from 2001 to 2002. The report comes from People (which is what gives us pause in regards to its authenticity), and says:
"Superhero parody is now being revived by Amazon. Warburton recently linked a deal with Amazon and Sony to reprise his role, with Edlund producing and writing."
The Tick was a bit before its time, but could fit in well with today's streaming-centric culture. If shows like BoJack Horseman, Community, and Rick and Morty can find devoted audiences, The Tick will fit in quite nicely, and may actually stand a chance of sticking around a bit longer this time!
