6. Martin Scorsese And HBO Team Up For Shutter Island TV Series

Martin Scorsese already brought Dennis Lehane's bestselling crime novel Shutter Island to the big screen, but is now looking to adapt the material again. This time, he's partnered with HBO and Paramount to expand upon the source material and bring it to television. According to Deadline, the series is tentatively titled Ashecliffe, after the isolated mental hospital where Shutter Island took place. The series will examine the hospital's past, "and the secrets and misdeeds perpetrated by its founders who erected the hospital in the early 20th Century and developed the methods of treatment used for the mentally ill." Lehane will handle screenwriting duties himself, along with Tom Bernardo. Lehane and Scorsese will produce along with Leonardo DiCaprio, Paramount TV head Amy Powell and Shutter Island producer Brad Fisher, while Scorsese is expected to take to the director's chair for the pilot.
