7. Ed Helms Cast In Naked Gun Reboot

_MG_4070.DNG Anyone who's seen a film in the last decade will notice that there are an alarming amount of reboots taking up theater screens each year. It's not a new trend, and one that isn't going away anytime soon despite countless online arguments and rants from moviegoers everywhere. People are especially protective of beloved properties that have stood the test of time, so this news should both shock and anger fans of the Naked Gun franchise. Variety reports that Ed Helms, known for his roles in The Office and The Hangover Trilogy, has been cast as Frank Drebin, who was famously played by the late Leslie Nielsen in the previous trilogy of Naked Gun films (released in 1988, 1991, and 1994). The studio has hired Thomas Lennon and R. Ben Garant, who wrote the Night at the Museum films and wrote/starred in Reno 911!, to pen the script. Helms certainly has his work cut out for him, following in the footsteps of such an iconic, beloved actor in a franchise that many will furiously claim should be left alone. At this point, there's no word on who will direct the film or when it will be released, but now that an actor and writers have signed on, expect the film to gear up for production soon.
