6. Warner Bros. Planning Gilligan's Island Reboot
We're all familiar with Hollywood's fascination with rebooting beloved properties from years gone by, but doing this to classic television shows has lead to poor results in the past. Generally, the shows are either a) too beloved to be given a fair shake or b) too old to be relevant again. Needless to say, Gilligan's Island belongs in both categories. And yet, Warner Bros. has decided to move forward with a feature-film reboot of the show, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2014.
Deadline broke the news on Tuesday, which was met with immediate outcry online. WB has hired Lloyd and Ross Schwartz, the sons of Gilligan's Island and Brady Bunch creator Sherwood Schwartz, as executive producers, along with Cathy Silvers (Happy Days). They've also lined up Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon, Jobs) to star, though his role hasn't been disclosed at this time.
