5. X-2 Writers Returning For X-Men: Apocalypse
Despite the fact that the next X-Men film, Days of Future Past, doesn't hit theaters until next year, fans are reeling from excitement for that film's sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse. Last week Bryan Singer took to his Twitter account to announce the project and a 2016 release date, which excited longterm fans of the X-Men who have been clamoring to see the multi-dimensional villain on the big screen. We know that Bryan Singer will be back in the director's chair, and that, at the very least, James McAvoy (who plays a young Charles Xavier) is contractually obligated to return. Not much is known about the film (which is fair, considering it doesn't arrive for another three years), but Wednesday Singer did give fans another nugget of information to get excited about: https://twitter.com/BryanSinger/status/413561395159265281 Simon Kinberg has been hired by Twentieth Century Fox to help craft a cinematic universe similar to Marvel Studios', and will act as a co-writer and producer on the project. The more exciting news is the return of Dan Harris and Mike Dougherty, who helped Singer pen X2: X-Men United, arguably the best film in the franchise. For fans of the X-Men films, it's encouraging to see the series' best players back in the swing of things, and though we'll have to wait a while before getting more solid information, you can bet that Singer will keep revealing little hints through his Twitter account.
