Development on Fast and Furious 7, which was supposed to arrive in theaters next summer, came to a screeching halt a few weeks ago when franchise star Paul Walker tragically died in a car accident. Since then, there's been little word on how the franchise would continue, or if it would at all, after Universal halted filming "indefinitely." The film was roughly halfway through production when Walker tragically passed, and with Walker such an integral part of the franchise, it was unclear how to proceed without him. Rather than continuing with the film's already rushed schedule in order to land the summer 2014 release date, the film has now been pushed to the following year. The movie will join the already crowded 2015 movie season, arriving on April 10th. The news was posted by Vin Diesel himself (along with the image above) on his Facebook page:
The last scene we filmed together... There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared... in the film we were now completing... the magic captured... and, in just how far we've come... Fast and Furious 7 will be released... April 10th 2015! P.s. He'd want you to know first...
We still know nothing of how director James Wan will proceed, but you can bet that we'll be receiving more news and information as production resumes next year.
