Speaking of Vin Diesel, it's worth noting that the actor has finally been officially confirmed for Marvel's upcoming sci-fi piece, Guardians of the Galaxy, as Groot, the walking, talking, sentient tree. This news comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone who's been following production on the film. Diesel had long teased his involvement in an upcoming Marvel film via his Facebook page, and jumped on board for GOTG around the same time Bradley Cooper signed on as Rocket Raccoon. But, if we've learned anything from Marvel so far, it's that they love to "officially" announce things, and felt it necessary to make it officially official. Diesel will not only be lending his voice to the character but will be performing some motion capture as well. Guardians of the Galaxy arrives in theaters on August 1, 2014.
